Discover the Wonderful World We Live In
2020 Project “Me”
I took a “self portrait” every single day of 2020, and it’s way more interesting, weird, and expected than you would think.
I started the project with the goal of documenting how I spend my personal time, which I was anticipating to be full of international travel with friends and family visiting the other side of the world. Little did I, or anyone else, realize what was about to happen to the world – COVID-19.
Instead of trying new foods from all across Asia with a backdrop of wildly vibrant Eastern Hemisphere landscapes, I wore the same pants everyday while I devoured endless amounts of Totino’s Pizza and Tillamook Ice Cream on the comfort of my couch, which made almost as many appearances in this video as my face.
Fortunately, South Korea has stayed relatively open by leading the world in controlling the spread of COVID, but it has come at a cost. I’ve become relatively “lazy,” but that’s fine because 12-16 hours work days for months on end take their toll. There were 366 days this year, and I didn’t get to spend a single one with my mom, dad, brothers, or sisters – the first time in my life – but I’ve been very fortunate to have built friendships who lifted me up when it became too much, too far.
My face carries a bit more wear and tear than it did in the beginning of the year, but still happy!
